Ocasio vs Rodriquez on Undercard of Televised Broad Street Boxing Event

Catch one of the biggest fight cards right here in Philadelphia at Temple University’s McGonigle Hall on Friday Dec 8th, as Peltz Boxing Promotions presents a battle over twelve rounds for the USBA heavyweight title as Philly’s own Bryant “Bye Bye” Jennings (15-0, 7KO’s) takes on tough Tongan Bernie Topou (22-2,16KO’s). The ten round co-feature of the evening will pit undefeated super featherweight sensation Jerry “The Corpus Christi Kid” Belmontes (17-0, 5KO’s) against dangerous Philadelphian Erik “The Outlaw” Hunter (16-2, 9KO’s). If that weren’t enough, one of the most popular fighters in Philly looks to continue up the lightweight ladder when MAK Boxing’s undefeated lightweight prospect, Angel Ocasio (6-0-2, 1KO) battles it out with Lebanon PA’s Esteban Rodriquez 6-3-1, 1KO) in an explosive six round contest.

Angel Ocasio, who is coming off of two Philly fight of the year candidates where he fought Camden New Jersey’s Jason Sosa to controversial draws, knows a win over Esteban Rodriquez will put him right back on the path to lightweight stardom. Few fighters with just six wins under the belt have elicited the excitement and crowd following that Ocasio brings. He will not be matched easy though on this night as Esteban Rodriquez recently almost pulled the upset losing a razor thin majority decision loss to the very same Jason Sosa (6-1-3, 2KO’s). Rodriquez is an aggressive non- stop puncher that is sure to put Ocasio to the test.

Ocasio’s knows the importance of a victory in front some of the most important people in boxing will do for his career and has stepped up his training and will be in the best shape of his career when he steps into the ring at the famed McGonigle Hall on North Broad Street.

Can Ocasio pull out the victory? Or will Rodriquez pull the upset and put himself right back in the local lightweight picture.

Also on the card is the person both fighters know as Camden’s own Jason Sosa (6-1-3, 2KO’s) battles it out with Lancaster, PA’s Isaac Suarez (7-1, 3KO’s).

Also featured will be famed two former Philly amateur stars in separate bouts. Former 2011 national amateur champion Jesse Hart (4-0, 4KO’s) will fight the always deadly opponent to be announced in a four round contest. Philly’s own decorated amateur star Anthony Burgin (1-0, 1KO) will face fellow Philly rival in debuting Kenneth Brown.

Also set for action is Philly super middleweight Fred Jenkins Jr. (5-1, 2KO’s) who will be severely tested by John “Church Boy” Bowman (4-0-1) of Dover, Delaware in a four round contest.

Temple’s own Alex “Macho” Barbosa (4-0, 1KO) will to put his education to work when he faces rugged Vineland New Jersey native Joshua Arocho (2-6-2, 2KO’s) in a four rounder.

Philly light heavyweight prospect Todd Unthank-May (5-0, 2KO’s) will fight an opponent soon to be announced.

Rounding out the card is a four round Philly welterweight slugfest as Hassan Young (1-1-1) battle it out with fellow city rival Josue Rivera.

The card will be televised on nationally on the NBC Sports network, but you will want to be there live if you want to see MAK Boxing’s Angel Ocasio fight his biggest fight to date as the bout will not be on the televised portion of the card.

Tickets are $35, $55 and $75. Please call Kurt Wolfheimer at 610-864-0945 or Manny Rivera (267-325-9963) for tickets as each ticket sold will help us continue to move Angel Ocasio on his path to lightweight stardom.
